Steve-

You are, undoubtably, the best thing to happen to me. You keep me from drinking, from sleeping around, from spending more than four days in row in my lab without sleep. You're kind to a fault, which isn't really a problem because everyone loves you. You're every bit the hero the legend makes you out to be- and that's just the problem.

I'm so flawed, I have so many character defects, that there's no way I can not mess this up. That's why I'm ending this while we're ahead. Remember the good times, the happy memories, but don't ask me to come back; because if you ask that of me I won't be able to say no, and I have to do this.

If I don't, if this ends badly, as it surely will if I'm left to my own devices, we won't be able to be friends. And I can't have that, I need you. I'm not half as good at anything as I am when I'm doing it next to you. And that's the truth.
